The Company
Sterling Publications is an ambitious and growing publishing company operating out of Dubai Media City and is run by a team of veterans with strong linkages in the regional media industry. The group publishes niche titles, which have already created benchmarks in the local and regional publishing business. Sterling Publications’ stable of magazines include Banking & Business Review, UAE Digest, Dubai Real Times, Ras Al Khaimah Today, Ajman Today, TRIBUTE series etc and has plans to add several new titles.
Sterling has been investing resources to strengthen its online profile. As a result, Sterling became the first publishing house in the region to launch e-magazines for all its titles. E-magazine represents the virtualization of the online edition, which means one can flip the pages like it is possible with a print edition. Earlier, e-magazines involved very heavy files and the need to install special software, downloads and reader programs, but technology breakthroughs in these areas have made it possible to produce email-able e-magazines.
With the higher internet penetration, and email becoming the most prevalent basic means of communication in the UAE, the company built up resources in this direction. Working closely with various readership constituencies in view of the specialized nature of its publications, Sterling has over the years built up a cutting edge database, to which all its titles are mailed as e-magazines.
As part of its strategy to cope with the global financial crisis and its devastating effects on the regional publishing industry, Sterling branched out into e-publishing in a big way, undertaking online publishing and marketing assignments for clients. Company’s e-magazine technology allows creation of e-magazines capable of playing videos and interactive content, a first for the region. The company produces a number of online brand magazines for clients, including Chrysler, India Tourism, Landmark Group etc.
As part of the move to grow the online business, Sterling has registered the domains emags.ae and emagz.ae for the development of an exclusive portal to accommodate client marketing campaigns and host their brand magazines etc. The portal will in due course add online research facility and customer feedback platforms.
Sterling also migrated its website from Windows to Linux platform to add new functionalities and the revamped website has drawn appreciation from readers and the region’s active online community.
